I have been a pipefitter for 30 years, starting in this industry when I was 18 years old in Memphis, TN. I was extremely fortunate to be employed by a company that opened their doors in 1905. They have an old-school work ethic that has served them well for over 100 years. I maintain those standards and embrace their work philosophy. I rose through the ranks learning all I could about pipe systems, especially old steam systems. I held a 1st class steam engineer’s license when I made the decision to move to Colorado.
I now hold a Steam and Hot Water Supervisor Certificate for the City and County of Denver. I also shifted my sights to focus on new and emerging pipe systems, including a new type of pipe called Aquatherm. It has all the advantages of modern technology and environmental responsibility but requires good old-fashioned skill and planning to ensure a high quality job when utilizing this material.
Extreme Conditions, Extreme Professionalism
“Under some of the most difficult conditions (temperatures exceeding 115 degrees F), working freehand from 20′ heights, equipment weight exceeding 135 pounds and a time frame of ‘needing to be done yesterday,’ Mr. Hone’s performance was to say the least, outstanding! Jim is a professional and his workmanship will speak for itself.”–Tom Hiatt, Armstrong-Yoshitake, Inc., Three Rivers, MI
